Unbottle Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing or using Unbottle you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Unbottle is published by Kjelseth Utvikling.

2. Medical disclaimer — read this one

Unbottle is not a medical device, not a treatment programme, and not a substitute for professional care. It does not diagnose alcohol use disorder and it cannot supervise a withdrawal.

Stopping alcohol suddenly can be dangerous if you drink heavily every day. Withdrawal can cause seizures and, in rare cases, is life-threatening. If that describes you, talk to a doctor before you change your drinking. A medically supervised reduction is a normal and sensible route, and doctors have this conversation often.

Seek medical help immediately if you experience severe shaking you cannot control, confusion or disorientation, hallucinations, a seizure, or a racing heart with heavy sweating.

The educational content in the app, including the health timeline and articles, is general information drawn from published research and public-health guidance. Sources are listed in the app under Settings → Sources. None of it is advice about your particular situation.

3. What the app does

Unbottle helps you cut back on or stop drinking by giving you:

  • A weekly drink budget that steps down, or a quit date to count from
  • Daily check-ins, craving logging and trigger tracking
  • A health timeline, savings figures and awards
  • A 30-day programme, articles and a journal
  • Local reminders and home-screen widgets

The figures it shows — money saved, calories skipped, health milestones — are estimates calculated from the numbers you enter and from population averages. They are there for motivation, not as measurements of your body.

4. Your responsibilities

  • Enter accurate information — the plan is only as good as what you tell it
  • Use the app for its intended purpose and not for anything unlawful
  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app
  • You must be 18 or over

5. Subscriptions and billing

Unbottle Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase
  • Any free trial period is stated on the purchase screen before you commit
  • The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period, at the price shown
  • You can manage and cancel it in your Apple Account settings
  • Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription

Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies, not by us.

6. Your data

What you record stays on your device. There are no accounts, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and nothing for us to lose. Deleting the app deletes your data, permanently and with no backup. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

The app, its content, design and name belong to Kjelseth Utvikling. Your own entries — your journal, your logs — belong to you.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Unbottle working but cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Features may change or be withdrawn between versions. If a change materially reduces what a paid subscription gives you, we will say so in the app.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kjelseth Utvikling is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Unbottle, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under applicable law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence.
